Hip Hop artist Cardi B's newest music video "Hot Shit" was released yesterday. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II fans were surprised to see Cardi sporting an ornate necklace made in the likeness of the game's title character, Lieutenant Simon "Ghost" Riley.
At first glance, Cardi B may not seem like the typical COD fan, although her husband since 2017, Offset, is a known member of the COD community.
The new music video also features performances by Lil Durk and Kanye West. The necklace first appears on screen as Cardi delivers the lyric, "I don't know what's colder, man, my heart or my necklace?"
Though Activision will more than likely not venture seriously into jewelry manufacturing, themed necklaces could prove to be a valuable marketing asset in attracting spokespeople, official or otherwise. Cardi B, a fashion icon in her own right, certainly wears it well in the video. In addition, the social media buzz it created probably won't hurt the game's sales.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II continues the action-packed story of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019). It will release on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on Oct. 28, 2022.
