Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis Closed Beta Test Announced for 2022

Square Enix are set to carry out a closed beta test for Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis later this year.

The Final Fantasy VII 25th Anniversary livestream gave fans a number of projects to look forward to, despite running for just 10 minutes. Included in the announcements was the was the long-awaited part two of the Final Fantasy remake project, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Alongside that, it was announced that PC players could get their hands on Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade via Steam as of today.

Mobile fans received some exciting news as well, with a new trailer offering players a glimpse at the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis — a new episodic single-player mobile game that, according to Square Enix will "allow players to experience the world of FINAL FANTASY VII and its connected stories." This includes the original Final Fantasy VII. Fans can check out the new trailer below.

Final Fantasy Ever Crisis was announced by Square Enix last year, but has since had very little follow-up. Now, it's been revealed that Square Enix are planning a closed beta test for the game later this year. The exact dates for the closed beta have yet to be revealed, but many players will no doubt be hoping for an open beta to swiftly follow.

Ever Crisis will offer a retelling of the original Final Fantasy VII, along with its canon titles: Before Crisis, Crisis Core, Dirge of Ceberus, and even Advent Children, the Final Fantasy VII movie. Content will be released in episodic installments, with chapters that can be freely selected from a timeline, allowing players to jump between different entries in the series. The game's combat will also be similar to that of the ATB (Active Time Battle) system.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will be available on Android and iOS devices, and is set for a worldwide release (except China) in 2022.
