Overwatch 2, the next installment of Blizzard's popular series, is almost here. Complete with new characters, modes, and maps, its release is highly anticipated by fans everywhere. While the game can be pre-loaded ahead of time, some extra steps are needed to be able to play right away at launch.
Thankfully, Blizzard has released a pre-launch checklist for ensuring the ability to play without hassle.
One of the preliminary steps required is activating SMS protection for your Battle.net account. Here's how to get started.
How to Activate SMS Protection For Overwatch 2
- First, make sure you have a Battle.net account. If you're new to Overwatch, you'll need to create one--if not, just login to your respective account through its website.
- Once done, navigate to the "Account Details" header. There will be a section for you to provide a phone number to your account. (Blizzard has noted that your phone's country code must match the country listed on your Battle.net account.)
- Lastly, Battle.net will send a verification code to the phone number you've given. Once you have received it, enter it on the website and press "Continue". From there, SMS protection will be successfully activated!
Once you've activated SMS protection, all that is left is to either pre-download Overwatch 2 on PC, or wait for its launch for consoles.
Overwatch 2 will release on Oct. 4 and will be free-to-play for PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
