Who doesn't love a little Monday surprise?
That's what Rockstar Games bestowed upon us to start the second week of August. In an unexpected move, the Grand Theft Auto developer announced a port of 2010's Red Dead Redemption (originally launched on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) for Nintendo Switch. The port, which will also come to PlayStation 4, launches on Aug. 17.
To be perfectly clear, this is not a remaster or remake of the original Red Dead Redemption. It looks to be a straight port of the game you played and loved (or perhaps missed out on) in 2010. That's perfectly fine because Red Dead Redemption rules. The story of John Marston's revenge set in the dying days of America's old west is a bonafide video game classic and should be experienced by anyone who is even remotely interested in it.
And now you can do that on a Nintendo console, with the option to play portably, for the first time.
