After the developers removed Plunder without warning, fans want to know when Plunder is coming back to Warzone in August 2023.
Plunder, first seen in the original Call of Duty: Warzone in 2020, tasks players with collecting cash by looting, killing enemies, completing contracts, and infiltrating Strongholds and Blacksites. The fast paced mode offers a great alternative to Battle Royale and Resurgence as teams race to be the first squad in the lobby to obtain $1 million.
As Warzone Season 5 gears up for the big in-game live event for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, some players noticed the removal of Plunder and Lockdown from the game this past week. Not only are both modes fan-favorites, but they are also a great way to get fast XP in Warzone.
Now, everyone is wondering when Plunder will once again be available to play in August 2023.
When is Plunder Coming Back to Warzone: August 2023
Activision has not released an exact date for when Plunder is coming back to Warzone in August 2023, but the earliest the mode could return is Wednesday, Aug. 16 in the next Warzone playlist update.
Ever since the mode returned in Warzone Season 3, fans have begged for Plunder to be a permanent fixture in Warzone to no avail. There is usually little warning when the developers decide to remove it from weekly playlists, and the decision is almost always met with criticism. The mode never stays away for too long, though.
Why is Plunder Disabled in Warzone?
Although Activision did not provide the specific reason for disabling Plunder in Warzone, the likely reason is to prevent players from XP farming. In both Plunder and Lockdown, players were able to gain a lot of XP simply by reviving their downed teammates over and over.
The Call of Duty Updates account posted on X that the developers acknowledged an "issue" in Plunder and Lockdown, resulting in the removal of both modes as they "investigate."
Plunder, and possibly Lockdown, will surely be brought back to Warzone with much less available XP throughout both modes.
